What Is the Tanzania Ordinary Visa

The Tanzania Ordinary Visa is a single-entry travel authorization issued to foreign nationals who wish to enter the United Republic of Tanzania for a defined, non-work purpose. It permits a stay of up to 90 days from the date of arrival and remains valid for the same duration.

This visa covers a range of approved travel purposes, including:

Holders of a valid Ordinary Visa who travel to any of the East African countries after arriving in Tanzania may re-enter Tanzania on the same visa, provided it has not yet expired. This applies as long as the return takes place within the visa's validity period.

Please note: The Tanzania Ordinary Visa does not authorize employment or any form of business activity. Holders must limit their stay to the approved travel purpose stated in their application.

Who Can Apply

Nationals of the United States of America are not eligible for the Ordinary Visa. US passport holders who wish to visit Tanzania for tourism, family visits, health treatment, or any other purpose covered under the Ordinary Visa are required to apply for the Multiple Entry Visa instead.

Passport Bio Page
A clear scan or photo of the main information page of your valid passport.

Applicant Photo
A recent passport-sized photograph that meets standard visa photo specifications.

Return / Onward Ticket
Proof of a confirmed return or onward flight from Tanzania.
